Foundation Announces Spring 2025 Grant Recipients

(Custer County, NE) The Custer County Foundation reviewed grant requests for the period ending April 30, 2025, and they are awarding a total of $79,376.19 to 20 Custer County organizations. 

“It’s always an exciting time when we get to announce our grant recipients,” said Rilee Daffer, Executive Director of the Foundation.  “The generous support we receive from our donors, through our annual Gala & Auction in December, enables the Foundation to continue to have a county-wide impact through the grants we can award.”

The Foundation Grants committee recommended, and the Board of Directors approved, the following grants:

The Ansley Story – $1,500 – to restore the storefront on Ansley Main Street into a historical interpretive experience.

The Arnold Community Theater – $993.51- to request funds to replace the tankless water heater to aid with renovation.

Broken Bow Ambulance Services – $3,832.68 – to enhance capabilities using radio communications – to be used for Starlink and the second year of service.

Broken Bow Public Schools – $9,200 – to aid with purchasing Culinary Arts Equipment – to be used for range tops, fridge, touch screen TVs at kitchen islands, and food prep tables.

Callaway Good Life Center – $7,500 – to purchase a new wireless radio system to enhance communication capabilities.

Callaway High School CTE Dept. – $2,000 – to enhance the sewing and textile curriculum by purchasing new sewing machines.

Callaway Teammates – $1,000 – to fund teammates’ mentor/mentee activities.

City of Broken Bow – Library – $2,000 – to aid in defraying costs for the Summer Reading Program.

Comstock Rural Fire Dept. – $2,700 – to purchase new smoke filters for SCBA masks.

Custer County Children’s Theater Association – $2,000 – to bring Missoula Children’s Theater to Custer County for one week in the fall of 2025, with the stipulation that our name is in the program.

Gate Cemetery Board – $1,500 – to purchase two more sections of new fencing.

Mason City Community Service Club – $4,000 – to provide furnishing and fixtures for the remodeled bathrooms.

Nebraska Early Reading Development – $5,000 ­- to provide 0-5-year-olds books monthly through the Dolly Parton Imagination Library.

Sargent Community Fair Board – $2,500 – to aid in hosting Sargent Fair & Chokecherry Jamboree.

Sargent Public Schools – $7,500 – to aid in replacing the football score board, with the stipulation of the Foundation being on a placard.

Sargent Township Library – $650 – to fund summer reading activities and contests at the library.

Seven Valleys Historical Society Museum – $5,500 – to protect and restore stained glass windows in one of the buildings that is part of the Seven Valleys Historical Society Museums.

Veterans Building in Broken Bow – $5,000 – to remove carpet and replace with plank flooring.

Village of Anselmo – $10,000 – to aid with transforming the current Library building into the Community Center.

Village of Arnold – $5,000 – to build and fence in a new multi-use court.

The next grant application period ends October 31, 2025.  Applications may be accessed online at www.custercountyfoundation.org. When submitting applications, it is important to complete all the requested information and submit a complete application. Incomplete applications may not be funded.
